I LIKE TEACHING AT SOUTHWESTERN BECAUSE: I like the small classes. It is much easier to connect with the students on a one-on-one level. The multi-cultural mix makes teaching considerably more interesting.
FAVORITE QUOTE: “All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated…No man is an island, entire of itself…any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” – John Donne, 17th Meditation
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: I don’t believe that teaching involves telling the student facts that must be memorized and repeated on tests. I prefer, in as many ways as possible, to raise questions and then help guide the student to find the answers for themselves. Students learn more easily and remember more if they take an active part in the learning process and make their own discoveries.
