SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW: I am a fan of mid-twentieth century hard-boiled detective fiction.
INTERESTS OTHER THAN TEACHING: Learning.
I LIKE TEACHING AT SOUTHWESTERN BECAUSE: I get the chance to get to know my students well and make a substantial difference in their lives. (And the magnificent desert scenery I see every day at the Beaver Creek Ranch!)
FAVORITE QUOTE: “Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.” -Basil King
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: As a teacher, I work to cultivate an environment in which students can learn both inside and outside of the classroom. I do this by modeling the approach of the scholar, sharing myself with my students, and motivating them with a love for learning. And despite all my efforts, I walk out of class each day feeling I have learned more from my students than they have from me. Teaching keeps me humble.
