OUR SPRING VACATION CONTINUES through April 5th.  Residents should return to campus by Monday evening at eight.  Classes resume on Tuesday, April 6th.   We hope all students will remember – or will be reminded by parents! – to complete the homework given in each class over the vacation.  Assignments were given students when the vacation began, and copies are available under the faculty information page at www.southwesternacademy.edu. 

SOUTHWESTERN’S 86th ANNIVERSARY is April  7th.   It is a “blazer day” for classes.   Then before a birthday celebration with ice cream and cake, students and staff help dig a hole for an anniversary tree at each campus, then enjoy “Anniversary Antics” games in the afternoon, a silly time that earns points for the four teams (the winning team earns a special off-campus trip for fun at the end of the semester).   This year in San Marino, students are helping move our two 1920 Model T Fords to their new garage at the east end of campus, where the anniversary tree will also be planted.

THIRD QUARTER EXAMS in all classes are April 12-16.  Report cards for the quarter will be mailed to parents on April 23rd.

ARTSFEST - AN IMPORTANT ANNUAL EVENT.  Student work in painting, drawing, computer design, photography, and fashion is on display on Thursday, April 22nd, from four to eight p.m.   Performing artists in drama, choir, and instrumental music also perform.  Almost all our student body are involved, and California parents are urged to come and enjoy the arts at Southwestern.  A buffet supper is served between performances.  Please get ArtsFest on your calendar, and come bring the whole family for an enjoyable event.

BASEBALL AND VOLLEYBALL competitions continue at varsity and junior high varsity levels, with several HOME games scheduled in April.  As always, we urge local parents to come “Follow the Sun” – especially for the home games.
