I like teaching at Southwestern because the school and classes are small enough that student needs can be met. I can hold
my biology labs outside where the students can experience nature not just read about it.
The mood of the school is that of a family. This is my first year here. I have found
every one here supportive and positive. The international flavor of the school makes
the student population unique and fun to teach.
Favorite quote: “By our students we are taught.”
Your teaching philosophy: Be a guide that shows the student the direction they need to go to become responsible
self-reliant citizen of the world. Where ever possible have the students learn by doing.
Be aware that every student is a unique person. One way of doing things will not reach
everyone. Teach the student were they are and move him/her forward. All progress is
good. Keep expectations for the class/student realistic. Be willing to adjust and change
to become better at the craft called teaching.
