I like teaching at Southwestern because: My favorite part about teaching at Southwestern is that I feel I learn a lot from my students. In the years I have been here, I have acquired a better understanding of various cultures and traditions from around the world. I wouldn’t have this kind of unique experience were I to teach elsewhere.
Favorite quote: “First they came for the communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t Jewish. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.” – Rev. Martin Niemoller
My teaching philosophy: To prepare my students for high school and college to the best of my ability. I don’t think that it is ever too soon to learn the lessons of responsibility and accountability. It is always my hope that when students complete my classes, they will be ready for what lies ahead of them in the academic process.
